I look for abstract patterns in nature, as in swirling waters or patterns in plant leaves. Some scenes leave me with certain emotions or impressions about what I am seeing. When I am feeling especially creative or adventuresome, I experiment with my own type of abstract impressionism, creating artistic images by panning and zooming with the camera. This abstract style of photography is new and challenging to me, since my usual approach to art is to capture the "true" image in as realistic a fashion as possible. I see and think as a realist. Allowing myself to see differently and to wholly create my own images through camera movement has given me a sense of freedom that I long to explore further.
